Outline of Application and Hiring Process:
- Submit an application and ALL three references by desired Hiring Round (see rounds below).
- A Manito-wish Camp Recruiter or Program Director will contact you to set-up a phone interview.
- Your three references will be contacted via phone to answer a few follow-up questions by Camp Manito-wish YMCA.
- Complete phone interview with a Camp Recruiter or Program Director.
- Hiring decision or an update on your application will be communicated within four weeks of a respective Round due date.
**Seasonal Staff hiring decisions are made by Program Directors.

This is your opportunity to tell us your story, your experiences, interests and share why you believe you would be the correct fit on our Camp Manito-wish YMCA Staff Team. Prior to beginning our application process, we encourage you to take a moment and learn a bit more about us –

Remember, in any application process you want to put your best foot forward and be professional.
Choosing a Round:
Your application and ALL three references must be submitted by the due date stated below to be considered for that respective Round. We will follow the “Round” system below. Essentially, you will be considered based upon your application, references, interview, previous experiences and which Round you applied in. It is not a first-come, first-serve system, but we will take into consideration which round you submitted your application.
All Applications go live on October 4
- Rehire Round – October 4 – November 5
- New Applicants will begin interviews in November
Round 1 – November 1 – November 30
Round 2 – December 1 – December 31
Round 3 – January 1 – January 31
Round 4 – February 1 – February 28
Round 5 – March 1 – March 31
Round 6 – April 1 – April 30
Round 7 – May 1 – May 13
Interview Preparation
After submission of your application, a Camp Recruiter or Program Director will contact you to set up an interview.
As you prepare for your interview here are a few tips to help you prepare for a successful interview:
- Manito-wish interviews are behavioral based. We will ask you to reflect on your own experiences to best answer each question. Your application has given us a good background and we are now looking to learn more about your character and judgment based on your previous experiences.
- Review your life experiences with friends and family. We are looking for situations that speak to your character, wilderness experience, teaching opportunities and work with youth.
- A lot of individuals are nervous before an interview and that’s perfectly normal. We encourage you to step away from any distractions so that you may fully engage in the interview. Be confident, be yourself and smile over the phone!
- Familiarize yourself with our website, Mission, Vision, Commitment, and culture.
- Review the job description of the position you are applying for
- Visit our employment page– read through the employee handbook.
- Look professional, feel professional, and be professional; even over the phone.
- Be in a quiet space, free of distractions and movement.
- Come prepared with something to write with and questions to ask.
- Be prepared to talk about yourself and your strengths, weaknesses, and career goals.
- Check with your references to make sure they have submitted their online form
- Make sure you have a charged phone or computer.
- Be aware of time and time zones the interview is scheduled for.
- Stand or sit at a table, not on a couch or lounge chair.
- Relax and be yourself.
