Program Director

Laini grew up attending camp in Northern Michigan where she learned to love the personal growth that came with being at summer camp and on trail. Since then she’s led backpacking and canoeing trips for teens and adults, taught outdoor skills workshops for youth-serving organizations in Detroit, managed other trip-based summer camp programming, and traveled across the world having her own outdoor adventures. She completed her degree at Michigan State University and has held certifications as a Lifeguard Instructor and Wilderness First Responder. She is deeply passionate about the transformative experience people can have when on trail, and she is excited to contribute to Manito-wish’s Outpost and Leadership programs that are steeped in a rich history of creating collaborative leaders through these experiences.

What a great treat to see 12 advanced trips come in and learn about the trail experiences of each of them. They start at camp, go off on a well planned and executed long wilderness experience, and return to camp on the same day, 12 different groups. No one else does this!
