Have you dreamed of someday working at Camp Manito-wish YMCA, but you are not old enough yet to be on staff? Are you ready to learn how to teach campers trail skills, discover new passions, hone in on their Program Areas skills and learn how to facilitate on the Challenge Course? Then come to Staff Apprentice Program to get a jump-start on your staff journey.

Staff Apprentice at-a-glance overview

LEVEL: 2 (Intermediate)
AGE: open only to 16 and 17 year olds
GENDER: Separate gender trips
DURATION: 21 days total
REQUIREMENTS: Prior Manito-wish experience or interview

June 19 – July 9, 2022

July 24 – August 13, 2022

During your 3-week session at camp, you will learn a combination of in-camp, leadership and trail skills needed to help you learn to be a better teacher, mentor, and facilitator, and ultimately a great future staff member. Your time at camp will be spent focusing on discovering teaching skills, learning about camper behavior, creating then executing lessons for the Program Areas. You will also head out on trail for about 6 days, learning facilitation and teaching techniques, and then test them out on the trail with your peers. The fun doesn’t stop there! You will also play section games, head out to the challenge course, and work alongside our wonderful staff all across camp.

Whether it’s the next chapter in your Manito-wish experience or a new chapter all together, you are ready to learn how staff help make the magic of Camp happen. This NEW program is open only to 16 and 17 year olds, no past Manito-wish experience required although preferred. If you are new to Manito-wish you will need to interview with our Program Director before registering. Please reach out to Carter Lindley at any time with questions.
